Service Description

Traditional Japanese cuisine (和食, washoku) is renowned for its emphasis on fresh, seasonal produce – offering an abundance of gastronomical delights, which may vary from region to region. The country's history is deeply reflected in its cuisine: With its cultural isolation until the 19th century, Japanese cuisine is divided between traditional and modern dishes. Since the Meiji Restoration in 1868, Japanese cuisine has adapted many Western dishes and made them their own. Examples include kareraisu (curry rice), hambagu (Japanese version of a hamburger), korokke (croquettes), katsu (pork cutlets) or Japanese cheesecake. Rooted in the concept of ichiju-sansai (one soup and three dishes), a typical meal usually consists of a soup, meat and/or seafood, vegetables as well as a rice or noodle dish. This class celebrates simple Japanese home-cooking with a twist; paired with a Japanese tea tasting taught by a tea sommelier, this is the ideal introduction to Japanese cuisine! snacks & welcome tea *** miso eggplant with mozzarella mixed green vegetables with sesame dressing glazed teriyaki salmon Japanese risotto with dashi & wild mushrooms *** matcha mille-crêpes cake *** wine pairing & Japanese tea tasting
