Iran and Tajikistan: Heirs of the ancient Persian culture, both countries offer unique culinary experiences yet their cultural treasures often go unnoticed. Besides great mountains, vast deserts and breathtaking architecture, Iran offers one of the oldest and most distinct cuisines in the world. Using ingredients like dates, figs, pomegranate paste, dried lime and a great variety of herbs as well as spices, this cuisine manages to serve savory-sweet dishes that combine heartwarming comfort food with oriental haute-cuisine. According to a Tajik saying, if you eat next to someone who doesn’t eat, you will get a stomach ache. This small country between China, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan has remained one of the most authentic artefacts of the Silk Road. As the product of a colorful history on the foot of the Pamir mountains, Tajikistan has developped a great sense of community, hospitality and a unique, but somewhat familiar cuisine. Join Chef Amely on a culinary journey to discover the authentic flavors of Iran and Tajikistan! You will be preparing and tasting Salad-E Shirazi (refreshing Persian tomato and cucumber salad), Borani Esfenaj (spinach and yoghurt dip), Non (Tajik bread), Khanuma (steamed pasta roll with minced meat), Swiraboi (tomato and capsicum salsa), Chakka (a type of strained yoghurt) as well as Bastani Sonati (Persian ice cream with pistachios, rose water and saffron). All paired with a selection of beverages and wines.
